As usual, in any conversation about media measurement we need to get our terminology right. There are many sources of measurement and insight, such as internal first party data, syndicated trackers and bespoke surveys, but we wanted to understand the requirements for industry measurement specifically. Namely, the shared measurement of a medium that the industry largely accepts and uses as its main source of truth for audience measurement, trading and planning, often referred to as JICs – Joint Industry Committees.
